As for me, I recently started a blog for my last game - progress on Aurora Fall is pretty much on an everyday basis, but it's always in small pieces so it may take a while until I'm done. I am fortunate that my energy to work on my VN is still there, although I'm pretty sure I will be very exhausted once I am done. But that's kind of the point anyway with one's last VN.

I also check the forum relatively frequently, though I was on vacation last week, so I only saw the messages now. It's great to hear from everyone, and it all just now reminded me of the voice chats - those were good times. Anyway, hoping everyone is doing well, it's nice to have a mini-reunion :)

I still check here on a daily basis, although to tell the truth, I was kinda losing hope in anyone trying to reach out/revive this place a bit again other than me. I'd kinda accepted the fact that we might've just lost that little bit of whatever it was that kept us together. I'm glad that this thread at least proves that I'm not alone in wanting to keep in touch with everyone.

I've been pretty busy with real life too lately. I've had a lot of responsibilities placed upon me in the last few months leaving me with very little time for creative endeavors of any kind... or even any recreational activities apart from some 5-7k runs twice a week. I've also kinda lost the drive for doing something through the medium of VN.

Besides being busy with real-life work (as an IT magazine writer), I'm also juggling between two fanfics, one a huge crossover and another a Hyperdimension Neptunia & Wreck-It Ralph crossover. As for VNs, I've already completed the story draft of one, but I'm still looking for an artist. Another development hell.

Hello everyone! How are you doing everyone? I haven't seen any new post here for a while and Kikered came up with idea of trying to post something new to make this place alive a bit again.
So I guess I will go first. I'm still alive (who would guess (: ) and still not working on anything VN related of my own. I kind of lost all my motivation for a while (and I guess I caused trouble to others too because of it - I apologize to everyone). I tried to write story for Nanowrimo, but in the end the progress was too slow. I keep writing though and hopefully will finish it someday. And who knows, maybe I will turn it into VN someday, if it will be good enough. After all, I'm slowly getting my motivation back.

Completed Visual Novels / Re: A Murder In The Public Domain

Release 1.2.2 is now available.  I've made this a minor release because there is no more additional story.  There is, however, major changes to the user interface.  I've added the << Previous button.  This button, or pressing the Backspace key, will move the game to the previous scene.  I've added the Next >> button.  This button behaves the same as clicking the left mouse button, or pressing the Spacebar or Enter key.  The user can now accelerate through sounds, songs, and videos in the same way that they accelerate through a conversation.

Here's some new screen shots:

Release 1.2.1 is now available.  This is a minor release to make the early Mary Livingston conversations more in line with how her character is evolving.  I also tied up a couple of loose ends in the Crustacean Cove murder.  I usually won't create a release for such a small amount of changes but this time I thought it improved the game enough to make it worth while.  I also added a fun little whirly flashback avi where appropriate.

Release 1.2.0 is now available.  In this chapter Mary and Dirk must solve the jewel theft and murder on the Occident Express.  They meet a new powerful character that knows of Joseph Leed's murder and seems to know of Mary's past.  A powerful character, but is she an ally?  The writing flowed easier this time and I like the direction the story is moving in.

I had some fun and changed the mechanics of the sprites so they now follow a random path onto, off of, and across the backgrounds.

Completed Visual Novels / A Murder In The Public Domain
« Last post by MurderPD on September 20, 2012, 04:01:21 am »
A while back, for a bit of fun, I started writing a game / visual novel called A Murder In The Public Domain.  A Murder In The Public Domain is a murder mystery game or visual novel built from public domain movies, sounds, pictures, and images. I cobble these all together into a mystery story.  The game follows the adventures of Dirk Caliber and Mary Livingston as they try to solve the murder of her mysterious employer.  The game will always end at a conclusive point but I intend to extend it.  How many times? No idea.  In what direction will the story go?  No idea.  As I find new movies, clip art, images, sounds, and music, I let them guide the story.  Since I'm doing the programming I also expect I'll extend the user interface over time.  How?  No idea, usually it just comes to me.  Hope you enjoy it.

I've released this game open source GPLv3 so it's free to anyone and everyone.  I'm currently releasing in Windows and Linux and I expect to make a Mac release fairly soon.  It's a continuing story and I'll be adding more releases / chapters.  There are third party applications and codecs required for the different operating systems.  These are also free and described on the web page or in the instructions of the game itself.
